CURIOSITIES OF CHARLES V: THE WEDDING
11/12/2019 - RCCV
Description

The first date between Charles V and Isabel of Portugal lasted fifteen minutes, and then they married. The appointment took place in Seville, in 1526, where the wedding between the two previously agreed would take place, and without even having met in person.

After arriving from the trip to Seville from Madrid, and without resting, the emperor dismounted in the courtyard of the Alcazar and strode into the room where Isabel was waiting for him. Fifteen minutes of conversation with that bride he had never seen was enough to dress up, marry her that same night before Cardinal Salvitati, legacy of His Holiness, and, as reported by an Italian observer, “go to bed together later "
