On the morning of 14th December, the meeting of the Scientific Committee of the Emperor Charles V Network of Routes took place, where an assessment was made of the tourism crisis that the COVID-19 virus has caused in the territories that form part of that Network of Routes.
An assessment was also made of the activities carried out this year, especially those related to the Forum for the Commemoration of the 5th Centenary of the Coronation of Charles V and the publication that will come out with the speeches and contributions made in 2021, as well as the publication on Charles V and the origins of globalisation as a result of the meeting he held in Lecce at the end of 2019.
Similarly, the request for the incorporation of three new members to the Network, such as the municipalities of Alaraz, Burgos, Logroño, has been evaluated positively, and several activities have been proposed such as the organization of a summer course around the Caroline universities created or founded by Charles V; the celebration of the anniversary of the diet of Worms, where Charles V met Luther, with an exhibition to be held in the Museum of the City of Worms, in Germany; a proposal by the Oriental University of Naples on the first globalisation (1519-1522). Charles V, Magellan Elcano and Pigafetta); activities around the 5th Centenary of the Communards and the revolts during the mandate of Charles V; a meeting related to the intelligent, sustainable and accessible development of the Heritage linked to the routes of Charles V; or the organisation of the next meeting of the Scientific Committee, which would take place in Simancas in 2021.
